Trees & Plantings
Every year, Townscape identifies locations around the village to plant trees. Townscape then selects appropriate varieties, purchases, plants and maintains the trees. We have recently sponsored the planting of new shade trees and boxwood shrubs in Millerton’s Community Park (Eddie Collin’s Park) and new flowering pear trees along Main Street. The money for these projects comes primarily from an annual, end-of-year fund drive. With direct community donations, Townscape also facilitates tree dedications and memorials for loved ones.
Since its inception, Townscape has also assumed responsibility for planting and maintaining annual flowers in different areas around the village: Veterans Park, the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, and sections of Main Street, including the stone bridge over Webatuck Creek.
